Working for thriving economies, communities and landscapes

About us

CI is a research and learning not-for-profit specialising in regional place-based change. We partner with communities, the environment, and all levels of government on holistic research, policy and strategy.

The Castlemaine Institute acknowledges that we live and work on the unceded lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung and we acknowledge the vital role the local Jaara people continue to play as custodians of the region. The Castlemaine Institute commits 1% of total revenue to Pay The Rent. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

What we do

Our work is currently centred around five key themes:
Economics, Environment, Neighbourhoods, Democracy and Housing.
