A beautiful but easily overlooked shrub, to small tree, with small leaves and furrowed bark. Fragrant, creamy flowers borne in dense clusters. Papery capsules rustle pleasantly in the wind.<\/p>\n

A plant with fine spines along stems, making it excellent refuge for small birds. Bursaria is a highly variable species. Our local form may have sparse growth, but can be clipped to increase density. It may remain low-growing under canopy of eucalypts, where it can spread by suckering. Forms from other parts of Victoria may grow into a small tree. This is a super important habitat plant, feeding a wide range of pollinating insects and providing refuge and nesting sites for small woodland birds.<\/p>\n
