Tall Bluebell

A fine, clumping perennial herb with mauve-blue flowers. Abundant flowers from spring through summer if water is sufficient.

A pretty plant for a cottage garden, rockery or perennial border. Prefers moist soils. Seeds out in the garden. Dies back in late summer to resprout from a taproot in early-spring. Old growth can be cut back in winter. A popular plant with native pollinating insects. Native bees can be found sleeping inside the closed flowers on cold days and at night. Our local form of Tall Bluebell is Wahlenbergia stricta subsp. stricta.
