A small, dense perennial grass that forms a fine-leaved tussock. The erect flowering stems are a dusty pink colour, complementing the grey-green foliage.
A common and widespread grass in the forests and woodlands of the goldfields region. Looks beautiful when mass planted in a naturalistic garden or grassy woodland style garden. Also works well in a rockery, cottage garden or perennial border. More tolerant of dry conditions than the larger Common Tussock Grass that is a popular landscaping plant. The fine leaves are used for nesting material by small woodland birds and seeds eaten by granivores birds such as native pigeons and finches.
