Rosemary Grevillea

A low, dense shrub with prickly foliage. Visually appealing, for the dark-green mound that it forms in the garden.

An important habitat plant, providing safe refuge for small woodland birds and nectar for honeyeaters. This is a widespread and variable species, with different forms found through NSW to western Victoria. The indigenous form is extremely rare in our district and usually occurs on steep rock outcrops.  Cultivated plants from different regions have naturalised in Mount Alexander Shire. Try to source local plants when buying from nurseries. Generally a trouble free plant, but is sensitive to phosphorous (so avoid fertilisers containing phosphorous). Prefers well-drained soil. Prune to increase density.
