Common Tussock-grass

A lush perennial grass, forming large dense tussocks. Thrives in moist sites with fertile soils.

An excellent landscaping plant where there is adequate moisture and if well maintained. Often grown in conditions that are too dry where it begins to look scrappy. Has a beautiful form and excellent weed suppression qualities due to its dense structure. Benefits from cutting back before spring encourage new growth. Attracts seed eating birds. For happy plants, try growing low on a hillslope, near drainage lines and riparian areas and around septic fields.
