Common Eutaxia

A heath-like shrub with tiny leaves and fine branching stems. Golden and red flowers in spring.

The local form of this species is prostrate and makes a pretty ground cover, though the canopy is quite open. Tolerant of a wide range of soils and drought hardy. Slow growing so plant in low traffic areas to avoid breakage. Important nectar provider for native bees and a food plant for caterpillars, and eats which eat the arils off the seed.. Prune to increase density and to rejuvenate.
