A pretty, low-growing herb with many stems and small grey-green leaves. Forms a soft mound. Abundant, papery flowers; white with a yellow centres.
Although this is a perennial, it often disappears after one flowering season so is best treated as an annual. Gorgeous for any flower bed, cottage garden or perennial border. Prefers moist with good drainage, but will tolerate some dryness. Can be clipped to encourage bushiness and flowering. Provides pollen and nectar for native bees, butterflies and beetles.
Cultivars of this species have been bred for a bushy, compact form and are widely available at mainstream nurseries. Cultivars have potentially not retained capacity to produce abundant nectar for native pollinating insects.
