A very fine perennial grass: fine leaves, slender stems and thin flower heads. Beautiful in mass plantings, especially when the sun is low and the grasses catch the light.
A common and widespread species, tolerant of a wide range of conditions. The fine form means its a good option for a drought tolerant native lawn: flower stalks grow to 60cm so will require some mowing. Seeds out prolifically in garden beds and pathways, so requires a confident hand in weeding out seedlings. Abundant seed will be valued by seed-eating birds and fine leaves provide useful nest-building material.
