Erect shrub with slender branches, fine leaves and very showy orange flowers clustered at the ends of stems in spring.
This fine shrub is easy to miss when not in flower, but makes an attractive display in spring with its “egg and bacon” coloured flowers. Slow growing but tolerant of shade and dry, so great for a challenging and underutilised part of the garden. Peas are an important sources of nectar for native bees and hoverflies. Small insectivorous birds will happily glean for insects through its fine, open foliage.
