Olive-green shrub with tiny leaves. Profuse white flowers make a stunning show in the spring and summer garden. The fringed, papery calyx at the base of the petals provides ongoing visual appeal after flowers are spent.
Great plant for a shrubby border or low screen. Quite long-lived but slow growing. Open branching can make for a spindly shrub when not in flower. Prune lightly after flowering to retain density. While local forms of this species generally have white flowers, non-local forms (e.g. from Grampians region) have pink flowers. A worthwhile habitat plant for pollinating insects and refuge for small birds.
