A fast growing tree for quick screening and restoration. Refuge and nesting for birds and insects; food for seed & insect eating birds; host plant for mistletoes and butterfly larvae. Can sucker, particularly when roots are damaged or older trees are stressed. Useful life can be up to 50 years, but is often shortened by borer attack.
